ACE Chess Presents: Showdown Tournament - February 27-28, 2010

GM Alejandro Ramirez: Alejandro Ramirez earned the title of Grand Master at the age of 15! He is the highest rated player from the country of Costa Rica. His accomplishments are numerous, and they include: Winner of the New York International; Winner of the Morelia Open; 3-time Olympiad Participant. Alejandro has been teaching high-level chess for over 5 years. He is currently a member of the Arizona Scorpions U.S. Chess League team, and he lead them to their first ever playoff appearance last December (2009).

The purpose of the Showdown is to provide ambitious players with the chance to compete against Master Level competition in a serious tournament environment. Each player will have the opportunity to review their games amongst the titled players throughout each day of play.

Round Times:

Saturday February 27th: Rd1 – 9am; Rd2 – 1pm; Rd3 – 5:00pm. Sunday February 28th: Rd1 – 9am; Rd2 – 1pm; Rd3 – 4:30pm.

Details:

USCF Rated. 6 Rounds. Game in 90-minutes. Must be 1800 Rated to Register. Slots may be held for players rated 1700+ upon full deposit of entry fee (refunded if player doesn’t compete in the event).

Registration Fee:

NEW — Register by 2/20/2010, and your entry is only $150.

$200. Seating limited to 16 Players. Must make full deposit upon accepting invitation.

Prizes:

Two Prizes: 1st Place U2200 Player $150; 1st Place U2000 $100.
