Congrats to AZ Chess!

A congratulations is in order to several local chess players, after a huge weekend for “Arizona’s Chess Scene”!

Congratulations to Levon Altounian for winning the “Champion of Champions” online chess tournament, and in the process, earning a qualification seat in this year’s U.S. Championship in St. Louis! Levon will be playing for two GM Norms in back to back events: The 2010 U.S. Championship and the 2010 Copper State International, presented by Abstrax Inc.

Congratulations to David Adelberg for winning (Co-Champion) the 2010 Junior High National Championship (K-9 Division) on Sunday. David finished with six points out of seven, and earned a tie for first place along with Kevin Bu, Zaroug Jaleel, and Michael Omori.

to the other incredible performances from this past weekend in Minneapolis: Eric Qi, 12th place K-9; Dipro Chakraborty, 10th place K-8; Jarod Coulter 23rd place K-8; Luc Lalonde, 26th place K-8; and Derek Chen, 36th place K-8;
