ACE Chess Presents: Copper State Blitz and Bughouse Chess Championships: Fundraiser & Qualifier - May 22, 2010

When & Where:

May 22nd, 2010. ASU Campus, Physical Sciences, Wexler Hall, Room 118. Parking available at Parking Structure #2, on the Northeast corner of McAllister Ave. and Tyler St. Structures and lots are free except during special events.

Tournament Details:

BLITZ:

One Section. Prizes, listed below, broken into three Levels: Open (1800 and Up); Reserve (1400-1799); and Booster (Under 1399). 7 rounds: Single Game Round(s) Swiss System. G/5 minutes. No Byes available. USCF Quick Rated. Bring Clock.

BUGHOUSE:

One Section. Prizes, listed below, broken into three Levels: Open (1800 and Up); Reserve (1400-1799); and Booster (Under 1399). 7 rounds:  Swiss System. G/5 minutes. No Byes available. Bring Clock. Player’s competing for prizes based on the average rating (USCF ratings used) of teammates. Example: 2000 rated player with 1400 rated teammate is competing for Under 1800 (Reserve) Prizes.

Round Times:

Blitz starts first: Round 1 – 10am, and rounds continue to start as soon as possible. Blitz expected to end by 1pm. Bughouse starts at 2pm: and rounds continue to start as soon as possible. Tournament likely to finish by 5pm.

Blitz Entry Fee:

$20 All Sections. $30 On Site.

Note: Registration and check in by 9:45am Saturday morning.

Bughouse Entry Fee:

$25 per individual, $50 per team. When registering with your teammate, please enter their name in the “school field” and their USCF Rating in the “grade field”.

NO Individuals may register on site. Either register in advance, so that we have time to place you with a teammate, or show up WITH YOUR TEAMMATE!

$60 per team on site registration.

By registering as an individual, you are consenting your permission for the ACE Chess Staff to place you with a teammate of our choice. Although we will try to place everyone with a teammate they are “content” with, we make no guarantees.

NO refunds will be given, even if you do not like your teammate. We recommend players register for both themselves and their teammates together!

Note: Registration and check in by 8:45am Saturday morning.

Blitz Prizes:

1st Place Open, Reserve, and Booster — Trophy and Seat in 2010 Copper State International Blitz Championship!

Bughouse Prizes:

    I was trying to register for the blitz tourney on the 22nd, nothing happens after I click on pay now, any idea why, or could you register me and tell me if i should send payment or i could bring it to you or what ever you like,I just remembered it has a limit and I did not want to get shut out.

    To register for the tournament, simply go to this link: http://americanchess.net/events/complete-schedule/copper-state-blitz-championship-fundraiser-qualifier/

    Scroll to the bottom of the page, and select that you want to play the Blitz (he can play Bughouse too). In order to renew your USCF Membership, you will need to go to http://www.uschess.org and take care of it with the USCF. Thank you, and let us know if you have any other questions.

    You can go to http://www.uschess.org/msa where you can look up members, enter their IDs or Last Name, and you will be able to find membership status, etc…

    Sorry, Daniel, earlier I forgot to use our quick ratings during registration on line so:

    the quick ratings put us 12 points higher as a team at 1954 + 1072 = 3126 or 1563 avg – still firmly in the reserve category.

    If you come up to Phoenix, you can definitely list your events with some flyers.

    That is cool that you are offering half-price. If you send me your dates, I will email market them while advertising my tournament. Hopefully you can get players to make the trip on Saturday for the Blitz and the Bughouse!!! No worries about the rating mistake!
