We’d like to thank all the regular Trekkers for their support of the first two Master Treks of the 2011-2012 Season. In addition, we’d like to thank everyone for their honest feedback regarding our new location, as well as their suggestions on how to improve the environment and “cohesive flow” of our tournaments — for both players and parents alike.

In light of your feedback, we have made a critical schedule change to the round times of all future Master Trek Grand Prix Cup tournaments! To allow for a lunch break, we have pushed back the start times of the final two rounds by 15 minutes each — providing a half an hour between rounds 2 and 3. This extra time should allow for a more relaxed lunch experience, as well as better quality chess games in the afternoon!

Changes will take place immediately starting with the October 29th Master Trek, and we hope to see you there! Stay tuned for more updates and news!

IMs Pruess & Rensch vs The World – Live!!!

Chess.com’s two pros, IMs David Pruess and Danny Rensch, will face off against the chess-playing public in the first of a series of exciting live events! The event, in which any Chess.com member can participate, starts at 11am PT on Tuesday, September 13th, and will last a few hours. The time control is 5 minutes per move.

The world team will choose its moves by voting, which you can do by simply making a move on the board above and clicking “vote” within 5 minutes. Meanwhile, David and Danny (graciously taking the black pieces) will make their moves by coming to an agreement on each move. Their deliberations and commentary will be viewable (for premium members) live at www.chess.com/tv. Don’t miss it!

In other news, the Arizona Scorpions played their first match of the 2011 US Chess League Season last Monday, and they emerged victorious with a dominating win over rival Miami Sharks! See the games here, and come out to cheer them on tonight at the Unity Chess Club in Scottsdale!
